Zero-Day Android Bug Actively Exploited

Google's Threat Analysis Group warns that 18 Android smartphones can be affected by a currently exploited zero-day. The exploit can potentially enable attackers to gain full control of the vulnerable device. The issue has been already patched in Android 3.18, 4.4, and 4.9, but then reintroduced in next versions. A new patch should be delivered soon in Google's October Android security update. The affected models are:

• Pixel 1 and 2 (and XL)
• Samsung S7, S8, S9
• Huawei P20
• Xiaomi Redmi 5A
• Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
• Xiaomi A1
• Oppo A3
• Moto Z3
• Oreo LG phones
