New Strategy - Encrypt and Leak Data for Ransom

After a missed deadline for ransom payment, the attackers behind Maze Ransomware have published almost 700 MB of data stolen from security staffing firm Allied Universal. The Maze actors informed that they encrypted 'a lot' of computers and demanded 300 bitcoins (approx. $2.3 million USD) to decrypt the infected network. According to the attackers, this is only 10% of the total files stolen and the rest will be released to WikiLeaks if a payment is not made.

With this attack, victims now have to not only be concerned about recovering their files, but what would happen if their files were leaked to the public.
