German Defense Contractor Hit

Rheinmetall AG, one of the world's top suppliers of military equipment and systems, has suffered a cyber attack last week. Late in the evening of the 24th September the IT infrastructure of its production plants in Brazil, Mexico and the US has been affected by malware attacks. The attack has lasted a few days and the infrastructure has been shut down and is currently being rebuilt - it is expected to take two to four weeks. Rheinmetall AG estimates that this attack may cause losses ranging between €3 million to €4 million per week. The company's shares have also dropped 2.9%.
