French Broadcasting Company Hit

M6 Group, France's largest privately-owned multimedia group was hit by ransomware attack early Saturday morning. According to the company's official statement, thanks to the quick and effective intervention of their cybersecurity team, the infection was quickly contained. None of the TV channels, radio stations and film studios suffered any downtime. Only phone lines and email servers remained down throughout the weekend and on Monday.

M6 Group survived the ransomware attack relatively unscathed, especially in comparison to another French TV station - TV5 Monde, which was attacked in 2015. Then Russian hackers breached their network, took the broadcast down for hours, defaced TV5 Monde's website and social media accounts, and finally, almost destroyed all their data.
