BSI Warns about Ongoing Attack

German Federal Office for Security in Information Technology (BSI - Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik) reports that attackers have recently infected a number of federal administration authorities. They are now being used in an active malicious spam campaign, which distributes Emotet banking Trojan. The emails look like sent by German authorities and seem to be replies to already existing conversations.

According to BSI, the infections in administration have been isolated and cleaned up, but everyone is advised to always check the emails' sender name, look out for misspellings and not enable macros in suspicious documents.
